Christmas Joys

Saying Christmas was awesome this year is a serious understatement! Blake and I got some gooood stuff from Santa, family, and each other.
all the blue/penguin/girly presents are to me from Santa/Blake... I got spoiled! The shiny ones on the left are to Blake from me minus some that I hid from him.
I sadly didn't get any pictures of the presents being opened but I got some of the damage after they were all opened and boy was it a mess!
Oh don't worry, there was more wrappings in the kitchen. I was a lucky girl the next day, when I woke up, Blake had it all cleaned up :) sweeeett.

Blake got two special gifts from me some new Kobe shoes,
(because I made him ruin his old ones when we went and cut down our Christmas tree. I wore his big boots because I forgot mine :s So he had to wear his nikes.)
I was super excited to give him his Kobe's because they were the last ones sold by Nike in his size, anywhere. Seriously. They came alllllll the way from Kittery Maine!
His next gift was a geeetar!! Whaat!
I love it, and better yet.... so does he! He got some nice accessories to go with it. I love listening to him play it. (we're going to start a band but shhhhh.... it's a secret for now). The goal is to get another guitar and jam together! But for now listening to him play is just as nice. He got some other little gifts like jerrrrkkkyy, candy, body wash, etc, etc.

Now...
On to me!
I got super spoiled. For times sake I'm only going to list my top 3 favorite gifts.

1: New Scriptures!
My parents bought me my own set of scriptures for my 15th birthday and as you can guess through all that seminary and church and mutual, they got pretty banged up and written all over to the point that I could barely read them. Since I'm starting this new chapter in my life, I asked Blake for new scriptures with my new name! They're gorgeous and I've already put them to good use with my crayola colored pencils!

2: A Silhouette SD!
This gift, I kind of saw coming. I mean, I asked and asked and asked. It was on the top of both Christmas lists I wrote and I have been talking about it since August.  This is by far one of the coolest crafting machines!

Along with my Silhouette I got some vinyl, sketch pens and gift cards for their online store. I haven't done to much with my machine yet but I have done some little things here and there. I'm kind of hesitant to use the vinyl on our walls because I don't want to waste it if we're just going to be moving :s good thing I'm learning patience right?! Also the software is kind of hard to use but I'll figure it our eventually. All I know is that this machine is pure bliss!

3: A Sewing Machine!!
Now, this was a complete surprise!! and I love it! When I unwrapped my present my heart just dropped and I immediately took it out of the box! After we had everything put away and the family room all cleaned up I went straight to my craft room and started cleaning organizing and scheming. Then I hit walmart and got yards and yards of $1.50 fabric. My sewing machine was from Blake and Scott and Lynell and it's perfect!

Along with my sewing machine I got some awesome sewing supplies like my Gingher scissors, a rotary cutter, a cutting matt and some other sewing stuff.
The first thing I did with my sewing machine was this 'imagine' set I've been working on for quite some time now. It turned out just how I had imagined lol and it sure does look lovely in my little craft room :)[[Thanks Brenna and Kylee for helping me spray paint those frames!]]
Next thing I made was this little apron and oven mitt set for my little niece Brookyln.

Along with her little set I made a picture using my silhouette to hang in her little kitchen

Blake and I thoroughly enjoyed Christmas! We spent a lot of time with his family and we spent a lot of time with each other! I've been having lots of fun with my new toys!

How about you?! What fun things did you get?!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and an even better New Year!

Pillows

I've been sick for the past couple of days and today I decided it would be best if I just stayed down and not wear myself out. At first it sounded like a great idea, but then after 20 minutes I started to feel restless so I decided to blog a bit to push away boredom. I have quite a bit to catch up on so might as well do start now right?? Get ready... My goal is to finish the last half of the 30 day challenge I started more than 30 days ago, to finish posting about my trip to California and to catch up on little adventures here and there before I go to bed today! So... Lets begin!!
Last month I worked on a little project to try and brighten up our family room. Blake and I bought some fabric a while back to reupholster some chairs with.
The chairs ended up sitting in our garage and the fabric was in our hall closet forgotten. One day I was putting the towels away when I noticed the fabric and decided something needed to be done with it. I pulled it out of the closet and then it sat on our couch for another week before I finally decided to turn it into some pillowcases!
I LOVE how they turned out! Even better news?? Blake said they even look like pillowcases that you would buy from the store! Yes! I have yet to take a picture of them on my couch because they look funny with our red leather couches lol but I will take a picture eventually!
What do you think?? Lookin good??

Wanna see what I've been up to lately??

SEWING!!
Yupp. I picked the habit back up.
I haven't done to much sewing, but I have gotten quite a bit of fabric!
Here let me show you!
The top fabrics are all silk like material except for the bottom right
The right one is a knit fabric and the left is a rayon type I got 2 yards of all the fabric except for the blue knit and the pink and orange one from the picture above. Those 2 I got a bolt of 5 yards. I love Walmart for their fabric! Most of the time you can find fabric for pretty cheap. All the fabric from above was $1.50 or less a yard, so to me... that's a steal! I've spent the majority of the past few days in my craft room swooning over all my wonderful fabric, wondering what I'll turn them into. I wish you could all feel how wonderful this fabric is... *sigh* it gives me chills :)
I haven't made much, but from what I have made I took pictures so enjoy!

First::
The Circle Skirt
with my blue knit fabric.

The waist band seemed to simple for my liking so I added some rosettes. My gorgeous friend Brenna made a headband and sent me a picture of it. I died and just had to copy her. Although mine didn't turn out nearly as great so I think I'll just give her some fabric and have her make one for me. The skirt was pretty easy to make, it took about 2 or so hours. But now that I have the pattern all made the next one won't take as long. I love, love, love!, this skirt! I feel so girly when I wear it. It is also extremely comfortable to wear! I definitely see more circle skirts in the near future!
OH YA... my favorite part you ask??
nuff said.

NEXT::
The Shirred Dress
with my silk floral fabric.
I'm not sure about this dress, I am having mixed emotions, but then again I usually have mixed emotions about all the dresses I make. I really like this dress because the fabric is just great! I don't like this dress because I have want to wear a jacket of some sort over it and the bottom is pretty fluffy. I wish I knew how to sew modest sleeves instead of just strap sleeves. I think this dress would be adorable with short sleeves. perfect beach dress. But, alas, I don't know how to do that so a jacket will have to do for now :) This dress was ridiculously easy to make, just hem the bottom shir the top and add an elastic to keep it tight. I was contemplating not adding sleeves at all but then I knew I would just worry myself silly about the dress slipping off so I added them. And I am glad I did. I had to hand sew them on which was new for me but it worked so I won't complain lol. The dress is very silky and comfortable. The only downfall of the fabric... It wrinkles easy, but I think I'll get over that because the fabric is SO pretty! I made a matching rosette clip for my hair to keep my bangs back.

NEXT::
Dancers & Fairies
I have been Nannying two little girls for the past month or so, Haley & Ali. Haleys 5th birthday was on Monday! She had a little party with her family and I went over to help Holly make cupcakes and cupcake toppers and decorate.

Earlier that day holly and I went and got fabric. You see Haley is starting dance and no ballerina is really a ballerina without a...
TUTU!!!
So Holly and I bought some tulle and I made a tutu while I watched Hard Ball with Blake :) It was super simple and didn't take much time or effort. I actually had some fun making this. The picture on the left has no flash but I like how shimmery it is with the flash so I decided to put both pictures up.

And if Haley ever decides she doesn't want to be a ballerina all she has to do it add wings and then she'll be a fairy! I didn't make these wings, Holly brought them over so I could make a pair for Ali. But how cute is this little set?!
I can't wait to see how Haley looks in her little costume! I'm also in the process of making her a little circle skirt to wear over her leotard, how precious!

Other than clothing I've made a few hair clips because I had the time and I've been wanting some knew ones,
They were all pretty simple to make which makes me happy. Because that means I can make more than one without getting super frustrated lol.

Well Folks... That's all I have made for now, I'm planning on making another skirt today but we shall see. Blake and I are leaving with his family to go to California tomorrow so I've been trying to make some new clothes for the trip! But I think I'm okay with a couple skirts and a dress, I have quite a bit of cleaning, laundry, and packing to do. My fingers are crossed though that I'll have some time left at the end of the day to spend with my sewing machine!

Speaking of.... The best part of this post... My "new" sewing machine... Everybody, say hello to Mrs. White.
Mrs. White, say Hello to everybody. (hello). I've had Mrs. White for quite awhile now and I've been dying to post her. But I got caught up with life and stopped blogging so, here you go!!! Mrs. White is Married to Mr. Remmington. They are very happy with one another, and when I am away I can hear them whisper sweet nothings to each other across the room. Not only does Mrs. White make Mr. Remmy happy, she also makes me very happy. Blake brought Mrs. White home one day and told me she was mine. My heart sank and I sat in front of her for countless minutes. He then told me where she came from, she was given to me by Lynell. Mrs. White is probably one of the most prized things I own (along side my wedding ring.) It was given to Lynell as her high school graduation gift from her parents. She's held onto it since then and a couple months ago she gave it to me. It's one of the only things I have that has a history (minus Remmy but I don't know his past lol). I didn't use her because she needs a tune up and there was really no need for me to tune her up since I was using the Bernina. Just looking at her made my heart swell. But, you see, a while back the Bernina I was using ended up back in Orem with my parents and the thought of learning how to use Mrs. White kind of made me nauseous lol. I don't have much patience for learning new things. So for the past weeks I haven't sewed. Then in church on Sunday we learned about patience and Monday I got new fabric so I thought I'd sit down and give her a try. I am SO glad I did! She's not tuned up yet, I plan on doing that after Cali. But she sews and she does a pretty good job at it :) Now she's nowhere near as advanced as the Bernina but she's simple and that's what I love.

She comes built into this table and the foot pedal you actually use with your knee which took me a LONG time to get the hang of haha.
That's the 'foot' pedal right there :)
I can't wait to get her all tuned up to see how she runs! Hopefully it won't cost to much lol. I'm also going to order her manual so I know exactly how to use it correct! Once again... I can't wait!! Thanks Lynell for my beautiful treat! I promise to treat her with the highest respect!!

That's all for now folks, I hope to catch up on some of my past posts that I never really actually posted. ugh. haha thinking about everything I haven't posted but want to post badly also makes me feel nauseous, haha I have SO much to catch up on. Hmm, maybe I'll work on that during the 6 hour drive to California... Or maybe I won't. I probably will. I should. ugh. We'll just have to see.
I hope to have more stuff for you to look at! But I probably won't post until I'm back from my trip. Sorry. I hope you all have a great week! Enjoy the weather and enjoy your family and friends!!

So glad to be back!!
Lots and LOTS of love!!!

P.s. I've been thinking about starting my own etsy store but I'm kind of hesitant about it. What do you think?? Is it worth the time? or not??

Summer Dress

Summer fun in a new summer dress! Yupp I made another dress and I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet.
I love the fabric and how cheery it is!! And for modesty measures I paired it with a light white jacket.
I put some decorative sewing on the pockets because I could and I also added some buttons.  I love the dress the only thing is it's a size 6 and I'm a size 2-3ish so, it's kind of big :( Don't worry though... I'll grow into it!! haha As for now it'll work just fine! Hopefully next year it will work perfectly!! Goodnight!

My Life Is A Treat

Guess what Blake and I have been doing this past week?? Thrift store/antique shopping! That's right! We got some pretty awesome stuff!! Here, let me list them

First stop...D.I. we got a really cool huge mirror for 15 dollars and a giant lamp for 8 bucks! The mirror was not very attractive, and so... Blake and I are fixing it up, out with the brown paint and in with the ivory. So far it's lookin good! Our lamp doesn't have a spot in our house just yet but don't you worry your little heart, I will find a spot! Right now it's sitting on my side table by my bed because I just like it so much. Such a beauty!
Along with the lamp and the mirror we got a shelf to hold our keys and our mail. Which Blake also turned from brown to ivory, with a little hint of green, which I'll add myself later on. The shelf we got for only 2 dollars!
Oh I love awesome deals! But the fun doesn't stop there! Last week I was surfing through craigslist, and I found these wonderful tables. FOR FREE!
The table splits in half so I can either have one round one or two. I like the stacked looked but I'm not sure yet. They need to be re painted hopefully a pink or a blue? We'll see. Can't complain, they were free!

Speaking of free, let me finally introduce you to my rocking chair that Blake and I picked up for free a few months back!
Perfect right?! I found her on craigslist and Blake and I went and picked her up! She's been awesome in the summer! Blake and I have spent many of nights on her sipping smoothies and reading books. Hope she sticks around a few more years!

Next on the list... New Dressers!
Do you just love these!! Blake and I got them for my craft room along with this black shelf
Both for $15!  Can you say steal? My dressers are already filled with fabrics and patterns! I love how nicely my craft room is coming along!
I also love spending hours and hours in there feeling fabrics, listening to music, organizing, etc. I only wish I had a tv and xbox in there also so Blake would want to hang out with me haha.

Anyways... next and last on the list of new treats is my favorite!
My little Remmy! I got a Remington typewriter!! Blake and I have been looking for a typewriter for a few months now. We looked at D.I., some thrift stores and a bunch of antique stores. We found quite a few but they all cost a pretty penny $60 and up. Money I just couldn't bring myself to spend, even when my wonderful husband said I could :) [[Sweetheart]]. Eventually I just stopped looking. I gave up. Well, the other day after work I was driving on the boulevard when a sign caught my eye. An antique store. One blake and I hadn't been to yet, so I pulled up, parked, and went inside. While I was just wondering around and admiring all the wonderful things around me,  I looked down to see my wonderful Remmy! There he was in all his glory. When I read the price tag and found out how cheap he was I went and picked up Blake and we went back to RnBs and bought him!
I've already written multiple letters, cards and I even use him to write my own personal journal! (He even types on envelops! Brenna... Don't say a word lol) I can't believe I finally have a typewriter. He makes me SO SO SO happy. I love listening to the sound of the keys, and the little *ding* sound he makes at the end of the page. Everything my little Remmy is and does fills me with joy! Oh joy!!
It's pretty awesome that all of my wonderful new treats cost us less then $40!! I love finding great deals!
Well folks, that's all for now! I'm off to get some yummy DQ with my husband! be jealous lol. Will write soon with pictures of my NEW DRESS!! So exciting!

Love:: Kak :)

P.s. Happy Birthday Yesterday Gran!!
