Welcome

It's great being able to wake up next to the one you love and know that they are yours forever. It's great to be able to go through life and make memories with that significant other and all the loved ones around you. I'm glad to be able to have such a blessed life and hopefully I'll be able to share all those wonderful memories with all of you. Enjoy!

Wanna see what I've been up to lately??

SEWING!!
Yupp. I picked the habit back up.
I haven't done to much sewing, but I have gotten quite a bit of fabric!
Here let me show you!
The top fabrics are all silk like material except for the bottom right
The right one is a knit fabric and the left is a rayon type I got 2 yards of all the fabric except for the blue knit and the pink and orange one from the picture above. Those 2 I got a bolt of 5 yards. I love Walmart for their fabric! Most of the time you can find fabric for pretty cheap. All the fabric from above was $1.50 or less a yard, so to me... that's a steal! I've spent the majority of the past few days in my craft room swooning over all my wonderful fabric, wondering what I'll turn them into. I wish you could all feel how wonderful this fabric is... *sigh* it gives me chills :)
I haven't made much, but from what I have made I took pictures so enjoy!

First::
The Circle Skirt
with my blue knit fabric.

The waist band seemed to simple for my liking so I added some rosettes. My gorgeous friend Brenna made a headband and sent me a picture of it. I died and just had to copy her. Although mine didn't turn out nearly as great so I think I'll just give her some fabric and have her make one for me. The skirt was pretty easy to make, it took about 2 or so hours. But now that I have the pattern all made the next one won't take as long. I love, love, love!, this skirt! I feel so girly when I wear it. It is also extremely comfortable to wear! I definitely see more circle skirts in the near future!
OH YA... my favorite part you ask??
nuff said.

NEXT::
The Shirred Dress
with my silk floral fabric.
I'm not sure about this dress, I am having mixed emotions, but then again I usually have mixed emotions about all the dresses I make. I really like this dress because the fabric is just great! I don't like this dress because I have want to wear a jacket of some sort over it and the bottom is pretty fluffy. I wish I knew how to sew modest sleeves instead of just strap sleeves. I think this dress would be adorable with short sleeves. perfect beach dress. But, alas, I don't know how to do that so a jacket will have to do for now :) This dress was ridiculously easy to make, just hem the bottom shir the top and add an elastic to keep it tight. I was contemplating not adding sleeves at all but then I knew I would just worry myself silly about the dress slipping off so I added them. And I am glad I did. I had to hand sew them on which was new for me but it worked so I won't complain lol. The dress is very silky and comfortable. The only downfall of the fabric... It wrinkles easy, but I think I'll get over that because the fabric is SO pretty! I made a matching rosette clip for my hair to keep my bangs back.

Dancers & Fairies
I have been Nannying two little girls for the past month or so, Haley & Ali. Haleys 5th birthday was on Monday! She had a little party with her family and I went over to help Holly make cupcakes and cupcake toppers and decorate.

Earlier that day holly and I went and got fabric. You see Haley is starting dance and no ballerina is really a ballerina without a...
TUTU!!!
So Holly and I bought some tulle and I made a tutu while I watched Hard Ball with Blake :) It was super simple and didn't take much time or effort. I actually had some fun making this. The picture on the left has no flash but I like how shimmery it is with the flash so I decided to put both pictures up.

And if Haley ever decides she doesn't want to be a ballerina all she has to do it add wings and then she'll be a fairy! I didn't make these wings, Holly brought them over so I could make a pair for Ali. But how cute is this little set?!
I can't wait to see how Haley looks in her little costume! I'm also in the process of making her a little circle skirt to wear over her leotard, how precious!

Other than clothing I've made a few hair clips because I had the time and I've been wanting some knew ones,
They were all pretty simple to make which makes me happy. Because that means I can make more than one without getting super frustrated lol.

Well Folks... That's all I have made for now, I'm planning on making another skirt today but we shall see. Blake and I are leaving with his family to go to California tomorrow so I've been trying to make some new clothes for the trip! But I think I'm okay with a couple skirts and a dress, I have quite a bit of cleaning, laundry, and packing to do. My fingers are crossed though that I'll have some time left at the end of the day to spend with my sewing machine!

Speaking of.... The best part of this post... My "new" sewing machine... Everybody, say hello to Mrs. White.
Mrs. White, say Hello to everybody. (hello). I've had Mrs. White for quite awhile now and I've been dying to post her. But I got caught up with life and stopped blogging so, here you go!!! Mrs. White is Married to Mr. Remmington. They are very happy with one another, and when I am away I can hear them whisper sweet nothings to each other across the room. Not only does Mrs. White make Mr. Remmy happy, she also makes me very happy. Blake brought Mrs. White home one day and told me she was mine. My heart sank and I sat in front of her for countless minutes. He then told me where she came from, she was given to me by Lynell. Mrs. White is probably one of the most prized things I own (along side my wedding ring.) It was given to Lynell as her high school graduation gift from her parents. She's held onto it since then and a couple months ago she gave it to me. It's one of the only things I have that has a history (minus Remmy but I don't know his past lol). I didn't use her because she needs a tune up and there was really no need for me to tune her up since I was using the Bernina. Just looking at her made my heart swell. But, you see, a while back the Bernina I was using ended up back in Orem with my parents and the thought of learning how to use Mrs. White kind of made me nauseous lol. I don't have much patience for learning new things. So for the past weeks I haven't sewed. Then in church on Sunday we learned about patience and Monday I got new fabric so I thought I'd sit down and give her a try. I am SO glad I did! She's not tuned up yet, I plan on doing that after Cali. But she sews and she does a pretty good job at it :) Now she's nowhere near as advanced as the Bernina but she's simple and that's what I love.

She comes built into this table and the foot pedal you actually use with your knee which took me a LONG time to get the hang of haha.
That's the 'foot' pedal right there :)
I can't wait to get her all tuned up to see how she runs! Hopefully it won't cost to much lol. I'm also going to order her manual so I know exactly how to use it correct! Once again... I can't wait!! Thanks Lynell for my beautiful treat! I promise to treat her with the highest respect!!

That's all for now folks, I hope to catch up on some of my past posts that I never really actually posted. ugh. haha thinking about everything I haven't posted but want to post badly also makes me feel nauseous, haha I have SO much to catch up on. Hmm, maybe I'll work on that during the 6 hour drive to California... Or maybe I won't. I probably will. I should. ugh. We'll just have to see.
I hope to have more stuff for you to look at! But I probably won't post until I'm back from my trip. Sorry. I hope you all have a great week! Enjoy the weather and enjoy your family and friends!!

So glad to be back!!
Lots and LOTS of love!!!
Mrs. Kathy Ann Thompson

P.s. I've been thinking about starting my own etsy store but I'm kind of hesitant about it. What do you think?? Is it worth the time? or not??

you could always put one of the cap sleeve shirts from downeast under that dress so you don't have to wear the jacket with it. they are perfectly modest and I wear them under everything! it all looks so awesome kak! you are amazing. love you =]
